COUNTY DECALS - Decals must be displayed within 30 days of bringing a vehicle into the county. A decal from another Virginia county is good until that decal expires. County decals go on sale March 1 and must be displayed by April 15 each year. For information on registering vehicles requiring county decals, please contact the Commissioner of the Revenue at (540) 675-5370, and the Treasurer at (540) 675-5360 about obtaining decals for registered vehicles.

DOG LICENSES - All dogs four (4) months of age and older, residing in Rappahannock County, are required by County Ordinance to be licensed. Licenses go on sale November 1 and must be displayed by January 31. A valid current rabies certificate must be shown at time of purchase. Licenses available at the County Treasurer's Office.

LAND USE TAXATION - Applications are accepted from August 15 to November 1. For more information, application forms, and criteria for land use taxation please contact the Commissioner of the Revenue.

PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES - Tax bills are mailed in October and are due December 5. A penalty of 10% will be applied for late payments arriving between December 6 and January 1. An interest rate of 10% will be applied for outstanding balances after January 1. A Personal Property return must be filed with the Commissioner of the Revenue by May 1.

TAX RELIEF - In order to qualify for credit relief for the elderly, you must apply annually between February 15 and July 1 of the current tax year. For more information, contact the Commissioner of the Revenue.
